Entropia Universe is migrating to the Unreal Engine!
In May 2022, MindArk announced they are migrating the game to the Unreal Engine. This is really exciting news!
The reason for this is that CryEngine2, which is the current engine, is getting old. While it is not a problem for the game today, you need to stay updated, and these projects take a lot of time, so you really need to start well before the problems start showing.
The goal is to preserve the soul of Entropia, while also staying up-to-date both when it comes to the technical as well as the gameplay side of things. The worlds are going to feel more living, contain more interesting content, and feature more engaging and modern gameplay. On top of this, they are building a completely new backend using modern approaches, which should result in a more stable and lag-resistant experience.
